Hi, I’m Dani — lifelong cat lover and founder of So Fine Feline.

For my entire life as far back, as I can remember, I have adored cats and all things feline. Curious about cat breeds, I have a large scale poster of “The Wonderful World of Cats” that I got at a young age. This poster is the main piece hanging in my bedroom now.
I also like all things fancy, and had always had my heart set on having my own pedigreed cats. Little did I know that acquiring these cats in my thirties would inspire me and naturally encourage me to explore feline-exclusive grooming. (Let’s also just make it clear that I do not “do dogs!”)

I’ve lived with cats my entire life. When I was born we already had a domestic long hair tortoiseshell cat named “Mieze”, an affectionate term for a female cat. Throughout my childhood we always had cats: indoor and outdoors cats, domestic shorthairs that we adopted from local shelters.

It was only when I hit my thirties that I scooped up my first pedigreed cat, and three years later my second—who would really move me toward feline grooming. Sebastian Oliver, my seal point Birman, and Penelope Alice, my calico Persian. Little did I know how utterly life changing getting these two cats would be.

I had no idea how to groom these medium and long haired cats. In fact, I didn’t even know that cats needed to be groomed. It now seems so obvious. Sebastian Oliver was seen at the Happy Cat Hotel and Spa, even though it is almost an hour away from me. Penelope Alice has gotten three lion cuts in her time. I did not get a Persian so she would be shorn. I wanted to do right by her and have her in all her luxurious, glamorous long silky three-coat glory.
Penelope Alice is exceptionally oily. I soon took to combing her daily with the Chris Christensen greyhound comb but she really needed regular bathing. I took her to my local cat & dog grooming salon, but was really feeling the itch to do it myself. I really wanted to have this intimate time with her and be able to do it more frequently as well.
